SUMMARY:American Cancer Society's November Events
DESCRIPTION:No Shave NovemberWe invite you to participate in the annual "no Shave November"! It is a campaign to raise awareness of cancer specific to men\; particularly prostate and testicular by not shaving during the month of November. Additional details may be found below:http://www.cancer.org/search/index?QueryText=to+shave+november Lung Cancer Awareness Month:November brings awareness to lung cancer. Overall\, we continue to see a rise in nonsmoking related incidences in recent years. Learn more about the screening tolls available and what ACS is doing to fight this form:http://www.cancer.org/search/index?QueryText=lung+cancer ACS CAN Quality of Life Forum-ACS CAN along with USC Upstate Mary Black School of Nursing is sponsoring a Quality of Life Educational Forum on November 10th. The program will highlight how palliative care throughout the course of an illness achieves the "triple aim" of better patient experience\, better quality of care\, and lowered health care costs. Palliative care honors patient choice about treatment goals and helps bring the family into the care process. The discussion will also focus on legislation that would help eliminate access barriers to palliative care. Quality of Life continues to be a key issue for ACS and ACS CAN. We hope you will consider joining us for this special event if your schedule allows. We have some great speakers lined up including a guest speaker who will be talking specifically about quality of life for children. You can learn more about Palliative Care federal legislation that we are supporting by visiting: www.acscanorg/qualityoflife Black and White Ball 2014:The Black and White ball is scheduled for November 8 at Zen\, Greenville. Touted as one of the leading events of the season\, this gala highlights the spirit of community volunteerism. Tickets may be purchased by contacting the office directly or through the link below:www.acsblackandwhiteball.com
