DESCRIPTION:INDIAN WARS of the West (1860 -1899) – Cartridge Guns from Here On\n\n\n\nThe Anderson County Museum's (ACM) rotating gun display ''A Call to Arms: Military Armament through Time'' has exhibited guns from the beginning of the age of exploration in the Americas in 1492 through the early American conflicts and the War Between the States. The latest exhibit focuses on the Indian Wars of the West during 1860 through 1899.\n\n\n\nSo\, if you've never had the chance to look at any of these guns up-close or you're just curious about what Wild Bill Hickok was doing when he was shot\, visit the ACM. As you read the exhibit panels on the Indian Wars of the West\, you will also find out how the Buffalo Soldiers got their name and how a poker hand of black aces and eights became known as the ''Dead Man's Hand!''\n\n \n\nThe Anderson County Museum is at 202 East Greenville Street in downtown Anderson. Gallery and the museum store hours are Tuesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Reading and Research Room is open 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays or by appointment.
