SUMMARY:Public Information Meeting: Proposed Extension of Multi-Use Path
DESCRIPTION:Proposed Extension of Multi-Use Path from East-West Parkway @ Greenville Street east to AnMed Health North Campus & from East-West Parkway @ Clemson Boulevard west to the Anderson Sports Complex The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and the Anderson Area Transportation Study (ANATS) Policy Committee and staff are seeking public input on a proposal to extend the walking/biking multi-use path from East-West Parkway @ Greenville Street east to the AnMed Health North Campus and from East-West Parkway @ Clemson Boulevard west to the Anderson Sports Complex. SCDOT and ANATS have identified possible options for these multi-use path extensions and are seeking public input on these and any other options that the public may recommend. The eastern extension would begin at the intersection of East-West Parkway @ Greenville Street and end at the existing walking trail around AnMed Health North Campus. The improvements would likely include a 10-ft wide paved path. The western extension would begin at the intersection of East-West Parkway @ Clemson Boulevard and end at the existing multi-use path around the Anderson Sports Complex. The improvements would likely include a 10-ft wide paved path. The project is not limited to the options shown. SCDOT and ANATS welcome input from the public regarding other options. Please review this mailer and send questions\, suggestions\, and comments to one of the contact persons listed below. What's Next? A public information meeting will be held at Anderson City Hall\, located at 401 S. Main Street\, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm\, on Thursday\, September 18\, to display alternatives and gather additional public input. SCDOT will then prepare plans and conduct environmental studies. Once a preferred alternative is selected and an environmental document is approved\, plans will be developed and necessary rights of way will be purchased\, permits secured\, and construction begun. The project schedule reflects that rights of way acquisitions are anticipated to occur in 2015 with construction in 2016.
