17th annual Race for the Cure

On Sept. 24, the South Carolina Mountains to Midlands Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will host the 17th annual Race for the Cure at Fluor Field. The event will raise money for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs across the Affiliate's span of 22 South Carolina counties.

This year, participants will have the opportunity to purchase large corrugated tulips in honor of loved ones battling breast cancer, or in memory of those lost. Each tulip will be featured in Suzy's Garden, a Race Day memorial planted next to Fluor Field. Tulips may be purchased online at www.komenscmm.org.

Participants are also invited to set up tents in the team tailgating area around the Race site on Friday night, and cheer on other team members throughout the Race.

Registration for the Race is $25 for adults, $30 for competitive runners and $10 for children under the age of fourteen. Registration can be completed on the S.C. Mountains to the Midlands Susan G. Komen for the Cure website prior to the event, or on site at Fluor Field. Registration rates will be $5 higher on Race Day.
