Anderson community members are invited to an event at the Tri-County Technical College campus off Michelin Road in Anderson, where they will learn about those who protect them.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Anderson County emergency responders will be available to answer questions about topics such as gun safety, fire safety, preparing for a disaster and protecting property.
The event is open to people of all ages, and among the planned activities are a squad-car driving course, crime-scene investigation presentations and a firearms simulation. American Red Cross representatives will offer CPR certification at a discounted price, said Anderson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chad McBride. Authorities also will demonstrate how people are removed from motor vehicle accidents with hydraulic rescue equipment, and Life Flight will stage a call. A bomb squad robot is scheduled to be at the event as well.
