On Tuesday, May 21, at 4:00 p.m., the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for Hospice of the Upstate to celebrate their Grand Re-Opening at the Rainey Hospice House located at 1835 Rogers Road in Anderson. Guests will be able to tour the newly renovated facility and enjoy hors d'oeuvres and music.
In 1988, Hospice of the Upstate was the first community hospice to provide support and
care for patients facing the end-of-life in their home settings. Ten years later, the Rainey
Hospice House was the first in-patient hospice facility in the state of South Carolina to
offer services to those facing a life-limiting illness. Patients and families at Hospice of the
Upstate are offered a different kind of hope – A hope to maintain dignity, live to the
fullest, be free from pain and spend valuable time with loved ones wherever they call
home. Every year, close to 1,000 patients are cared for by an experienced team of
doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, counselors and volunteers.
The newly renovated Rainey Hospice House offers in-patient care when remaining home
is not the best option.
