5th Annual Heritage Days at the Belton Depot

The 5th Annual Heritage Days Education Days will be held at the Historic Belton Train Depot on Thursday and Friday, October 1 and 2, 2009, for area school children and home schoolers in grades 2 - 5. Traditional folk artists and historical re-enactors will demonstrate the skills necessary for pioneer survival, giving students hands-on experiences with living history.
The Fifth Annual Heritage Days at the Depot will be open to the public on the green space of the Historic Belton Train Depot on October 3, 2009 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Fifteen traditional skills artisans will demonstrate their timeless crafts, offering hands-on instruction and activities to enjoy, and making history come alive. Heritage skills artisans who will demonstrate their crafts will include but are not limited to the following: an Appalachian storyteller, a Cooper (barrel maker), a Pewtersmith, a Decoy Carver, a Clockmaker, a Pine Needle Basket Weaver, a Cherokee Indian Musician/musical instrument maker, a Redware Potter, a Revolutionary War Soldier, a Glass Blower, a Miller, a Quilter, a Country Dance Instructor, a Joiner/Furniture maker, and a Falconer. An additional 10 juried traditional skills craftsmen will also provide demonstrations and offer their products for sale.
