Ribbon Cutting at WYPJ 95.3 FM

On Wednesday, January 18, at 11:00 a.m., the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for WYPJ 95.3 FM to celebrate the grand opening of their new radio station located at 132 Powell Road in Anderson.

L.A. Sounds officially launched Soul 95.3 WYPJ on September 1, 2011, which is better known as ''The Soul of the City''. The station is an urban hit station playing a wholesome mix of music, which appeals to listeners of all ages and ethnicities. Horace Alexander, General Manager, says, ''WYPJ is no stranger to the Anderson area as it was originally operating under the banner of The New Joy 95.3 as a 24-hour gospel station. We have modified our music format to be more holistic to reach a broader audience.'' Station programs and personalities include Frankie J Morning Show, Pastor Jay In The Mid Day, ''Sir Jones'' King of the Night, Keltrus ''The Industry Exec'', Sweet Hour of Prayer with James McGill, and The Bo P Show. With the acquisition of the Bo P Show, WYPJ has already gained national recognition, as Bo P is nationally known for his appearances on the nation's largest comic stages, including syndicated television shows, music videos and movies.
