Last week, the Board of Economic Advisors (BEA) met to discuss current State revenues and discuss the State’s economic outlook. In terms of revenues, South Carolina has done exceptionally well and come in well ahead of estimates.

On September 9th, the White House released a new COVID-19 Action Plan. This plan includes a directive to OSHA to develop an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require any workers who remain unvaccinated to produce a negative test result on at least a weekly basis before coming to work.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) recently issued the August jobs report. While the United States added more than one million jobs in July, the jobs added in August dropped sharply to 235,000. That number was over 500,000 fewer than the expectation of 750,000 jobs added in August. Many sources are attributing this significant drop in jobs added to the surging Delta variant and increase in cases.
