Biden Administration Urges Companies to be Ready for Potential Cyberattacks
This week, President Biden advised U.S. companies to strengthen their cybersecurity defenses based on intelligence reports that Russia is exploring potential cyberattacks.  The White House released guidance to companies on preventing cyberattacks, while the administration is also continuing to provide resources and tools to the private sector to secure their networks via CISA's Shields-Up campaign. Specifically, the administration urges companies to adhere to the following:

    •             Mandate use of multi-factor authorizations for network security.
    •             Deploy modern security tools on devices to constantly scan for threats.
    •             Work with cybersecurity professionals to ensure systems are secure.
    •             Change all passwords across the network.
    •             Backup data on offline devices.
    •             Run exercises and drills of emergency plans.
    •             Encrypt data.
    •             Educate employees on possible warning signs that systems have been compromised, like devices suddenly running slow.
    •             Engage with federal law enforcement to gain rapport.
