On May 20th, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) released the April employment situation summary. According to the report:
• The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased slightly to 5.0 percent in April from 5.1 percent in March.
• Industries that reported gains were Education and Health Services (+2,300); Construction (+600); Government (+600); Other Services (+300); and
Information (+100).
• From April 2020 to April 2021, South Carolina's economy has gained 224,700 seasonally adjusted, nonfarm jobs.
