General Assembly Returns to Finalize Budget and Confirm Appointments


Appointments
The Senate confirmed the nomination of Harry Lightsey III to replace Bobby Hitt as Secretary of the Department of Commerce. His term is coterminous with the Governor. 
 
Budget
The House and Senate convened last week to take up the Governor’s budget vetoes in order to finalize the state budget. The House and Senate are not expected to return for session until September, at which time they will take up the ARPA fund allocations and begin the process of redistricting.
